What moves you? I am motivated by what it means to explore and discover new places and terrain. With running, I'm able to connect with the ground I move over in a deeper way. Being able to share that with others makes that connection more profound and lasting. I will always be thankful for that.
How does running inspire you to give back? I find myself constantly in awe of the incredible spaces - national parks, trail systems, peaks - that we have access to. As our sport becomes more and more popular, the need to preserve and look after these spaces, and the life that exists within them, becomes more important with each day. Running inspires me to give back to the groups that help to preserve every aspect of the parks and trail systems that I've had the pleasure of experiencing throughout my running life. I hope to always be mindful of the idea that my ability to run within a protected area is much more of a privilege than it is a right - I need to cherish it, to care for it, and to take every opportunity provided for me to aid in its preservation. |
