What moves you? I move to remember I am strong, confident, and limitless. I move to remember the abundant offerings of the present moment. The physical and mental challenges of running, cycling, walking, farming and hiking bring me closer to these lessons. I move to connect with myself. The deep breaths which steady me as I rush down technical terrain or ground me as I haul in a great harvest of vegetables settles me into my being in a way not much else can. Through remembering my own power and the power of that which surrounds me I am enlivened to live fully and well, and shepherd others towards this pursuit.
How does running inspire you to give back? Running, as well as other forms of movement central to my life, inspires me to cherish connection. Many of the most joyful and rewarding moments of movement for me have been by the side of companions. Through my movement practices I am reminded to connect with and care for myself and the humans, critters, and other living beings which inhabit this earth. I aspire to always remember how interdependent we all are and to reach out to those, or myself, when isolation creeps in. Be it running, walking, or farming with others I have found meaningful relationships in shared spaces of movement. I believe connection is a gift we can all offer and receive. |
