What moves you? I thrive on social interaction through running, hiking, and exploring outside. Not only does running make me feel strong and healthy, but it has sharpened my ability to set goals and use grit to achieve them. I love exploring a mountain or trail with friends. I also love the hours of solitude and reflection. I feel most at home when I spend my time with laid back trail runners. My two strong legs and a healthy heart have given me a lifetime of adventures.
How does running inspire you to give back? In 2014, with the help of a small group of friends, we created a running group in our town in Massachusetts. It now has over a thousand members and is a community that has stretched beyond running into lasting friendships and community activism. This group has raised thousands of dollars for charity through running, and I have personally raised money for charity for the Boston Marathon. In addition, the group has organized food drives and donations for a local shelter. Running doesn’t belong to one person or one group, but it belongs to all of us. We can share our passion and use it to make our communities stronger, our relationships more adventurous, and to lift those around us. |
